Time to do something about armored gloves?

deprecate armored_gloves

My opinion is to stop it from being added so it can be gardened out and see what's left to be handled. The majority of this tag is either gauntlets, studded gloves or just simply gloves with decorative metals on them (do we - and if so, why do we - care to tag the metal on things like post #2505163?). There might even be hints of mechanical hands in the tag.

This doesn't seem like a new problem given that there was an attempt to clean it up 6 years ago (forum #161616) and a constant source of confusion (forum #283274, forum #283626, forum #308481) and lack of attention for wiki maintenance (forum #375007, forum #390216). Wikipedia itself qualifies it as a glove and describes it as a glove. I'm not even sure the armour nerds on Danbooru can actually find a significantly worthy divide here that warrants a separate tag.

I made a preliminary wiki because I can't deprecate it otherwise and in attempting to find example posts they mostly all looked like gauntlets anyway. It might be worth aliasing the tags together after gardening efforts.

I don't know if that distinction provides anything significant in regards to armour searching but as it stands now the tag is mostly gauntlets or other similar tags. I could try and approach the wiki with this explicit distinction and do some mass gardening but generally they kind of mean the same thing and per the example in the original post, there's not really anything you can describe post #2505163 as unless the definition allows for even this much of metal to be considered armoured.

It's not that the gardening can't be done without a deprecation but for most posts that I checked through, it's mainly confusion and severe overlap with gauntlets that I feel like if all gardening were to be done, there wouldn't be much left of the tag. I believe that fixing this down, and then preventing tagging of miniscule metals as armour, will help keep the value of a tag about gloves with armour/protective metal on them and encourage proper use of gauntlets.

A secondary conversation I just remembered though is that our use of gauntlets is somewhat broad and encompasses non-traditional forms of it as well. An example is with Hoshimi Miyabi - consensus was reached to tag what's worn on her left arm as single gauntlet (in contrast to originally tagging it as prosthetic arm), as seen in post #10238279. It's somewhat of a cursed tag as most clothing tags eventually do get because of general clothing bastardisation from gacha and vtuber designs that requires using best-fit tags since there's not much of a better way to describe them - eventually something gets hit. Even then though, bringing such a case into the equation, I don't think armored gloves describes it very well.
