X (twitter) and still GIFs

I've noticed an increased number of artists protesting the new "Edit image" feature of X by uploading their art as still gifs. Would it be reasonable to convert them into images prior to uploading or potentially uploading both the gif and the image version?

Just leave them as they are. Though it might not be a bad idea to create a single-frame gif (or single_frame to include other filetypes) tag for this kind of post.

Sometimes (quite often) the videos themselves actually consist of multiple frames, they're just the same frame. This makes it pretty difficult to do it automatically without making it quite complicated.

Video implies animated, and they're still video files even if all the frames are visually identical. They're not plain images. Non-repeating animations are another case where an animation results in a static image.
