Redo of topic #33504. If there's a difference between these two, I don't see it.

in the real world, duct tape and electrical tape are very different. different textures, sizes, and uses.

but for here It might as well be the same thing. tape is tape in most artworks

Is there a point in using the term "duct tape" for the tag when the tag is being used for any non-transparent tape?

I would've assumed duct tape to be for the wide tape as depicted in post #10202912 or post #9208551, but that tag is filled with posts like post #10190917 too (actual electrical tape). It's useful to distinguish it from paper/medical tape (post #9402220, seems we don't have a tag for that) or caution tape/police tape, but it seems duct tape is more of a "plastic tape" tag than anything.
