False explicit ratings

I noticed that post #98474 (one of the ones I uploaded back in Danbooru's previous incarnation) wasn't showing up when I browsed the Final Fantasy Tactics pics, so I used Sagubooru to find the post number and manually entered the URL here. Sure enough, it was there but for some reason it was rated as explicit despite being about as safe as it gets (I went ahead and fixed its rating). It isn't the first time I've found something like this either.

Is somebody deliberately misrating pics or what?

I think it has happened in the past. I've taken the odd bit of time here and there to go through the list and try to fix those when I see them, since they piss me off enormously.

I seem to have had a similar problem with post #165636 - I haven't changed the rating back because I'm not sure what prompted the change to Explicit.

This has always been a problem, and the original motivation behind the rating lock functionality. Basically all posts used to get misrated as the time went. It's not as big a problem after danbooru rised from the dead, but still happens. I'd like to know the definitive reason for that, as it's really puzzling. I thought it was some crappy attempts at leeching, but rating is changed using POST, and form spammers don't seem common enough to account for that.

Would that imply that people are setting their side tab to "Rate: Explicit" and then clicking on things? Because I definitely have misunderstood the purpose of those three tabs before, although that was years ago.

Their side what? Ahhh, you mean the mode dropdown list on the post listing page? That might be an explanation.

That would make sense. The very first time I came to Danbooru (before its death and rebirth), I thought those were to make it display only explicit pics, only safe pics, etc. Though I figured out that wasn't the case before I ever clicked on anything in those modes.
