Multiple artists with the same name

I've just run across a minor issue, I found a new artist (nao) that I wanted to add. However, there was already an artist with that name on the site, and it was a different one.

In this case I chose to use her sitename instead, but is there a standard procedure for this?

You can also do nao_(blush_response) but I think this is fine, what's important is having a unique identifier for the artist.
