I was under the impression that the best course of action if you find a better version of something previously uploaded would be to delete the lower-quality version; However, upon reading up on some things, it seems that parenting is, in some cases, preferred. Does this only apply to flagging other people's posts?
If I was to upload something and eventually find a better version of the same image, would it be best to delete the lesser version, or simply parent it? To my understanding, too many deleted posts doesn't exactly make you look good, so there seems to be little incentive to delete something, even if it is clearly inferior. Despite that though, I would think deleting would be the best way to go.
So my question: Assuming the posts are our own--where others are saved the trouble of looking through flagged images--would it be better to delete the lower quality image in favor of a higher quality one (again, assuming that the new image is exactly the same save for higher quality) as opposed to parenting? Does deleting benefit the site enough to warrant the addition to the Deleted Posts count?
