Furry definition

Posted under General

There's always a degree of interpretation that needs to happen, and the TOS definition (which says person with fur or scales for skin) is worded a little over-strictly on purpose. It's done as such to force people to take a second thought about what they're uploading.

There certainly isn't an outright ban on every single anthropomorphic character, so the examples you link are fine.

The main concern with the furry rule is erotic/sexual furry. I'm not going to say the rule absolutely stops there without exception, but it's the primary concern.

Basically... just be careful about it.

post #113417 explains pretty well how furry and monster_girl are used on danbooru.

post #713803:
Mystia is about 90% bird here. Only her pink hair and 4 wings are not natural for birds. A bird's bristles are similar to hair/fur in both appearance and purpose, so I don't think a distinction is necessary. furry

He certainly has the "non-human face", but other than that, he looks 100% human. Just change the nose and you've got a human. I personally think that's within the "10%", but you might want another opinion. not furry

Ah, I suppose I should be more clear when dealing with TOS-related subjects. I'm not interested in discussing the TOS, I'm asking about the furry tag.

Specifically, does the furry tag definition need to be reworded to include non-hairy anthropomorphic characters, or does non-hairiness mean images shouldn't be tagged with furry?

Furry covers a large variety of creatures, but these are given names such as "scalies" I think.

Which I don't think is a useful distinction for us. I vote for simply expanding furry to cover all sufficiently animal characters, whether they have fur or something else.

That's the actual definition. Furries don't have to have fur, and scalies are just a subset of furry. The tag should cover all anthromorphic creatures, except regular pokemon.

mutio would not fit that definition of kemono, so that would have to be removed from her images. And if King Kazuma and Komamura Sajin are tagged for furry, then why not Sonic and characters from Star Fox?

Also, can e621.net be added to the wiki and what is "acceptable" here be expanded on? Since Danbooru is strict about it... at least explicit images.
