Danbooru

Doujins and something else

Posted under General

Just a few questions I need to make before uploading more stuff, mostly about doujins:

So, they are not to be posted if they are big or of bad quality, but if they are short and good enough then they are ok to post, right?

If so, then what's the definition for short, around 15 pages is good, but any more than 20~25 is bad?

Are they better parented, pooled or both?

I already posted one doujin some days ago. But when I think about it, i'm not so sure if it should be tagged as doujin. Well, it doesn't have plot, nor dialogues. It looked more like a CG set (where most had nothing to do with the other. They were just alike), except it was in doujin format (pages and such). In this case, should the doujin tag be applied too, or something like "compilation" or "artbook" (even if it wasn't an actual artbook).

And when I was randomly browsing trough danbooru, I came across a tag that was so unexpected by me, A_master_is_out. Does that mean that memes can also be tags?

Wow, this turned out bigger than I though it would. Anyway, that's all my questions and doubts for now (you never know when another one will come up).

Btw, you can't login with your (normal) cellphone lol. Not a big deal, non-3G cellphones can't see more than 2 pics anyway.

Your other questions were just answered so I'll do the short/good question. The answer is... well yes of course, though thats subjective. I mean nobody is going to waste time upping a doujin they think is bad =P

As for the one you posted... you're right it's more artbook-like than doujin in the comic sense, and worth discussing I guess. but what's more important is getting a pool up.

I believe artbooks should definitely be allowed content, they basically fall under the same rules as doujins basically (good quality, not a bloody endless flood, etc.).

Scanned stuff has one additional "dimension" which is whether or not it's scanned properly. I don't know how other people look at this, but I for one can't stand stuff that's scanned badly, with those polka dot patterns or misalignments.

As for tagging, I think "artbook" would be a valid tag category. I would say your upload falls under it. With doujin I always sort of expect a plot...

By the way if you want to put up a big doujin, one thing you could do is upload the front cover and put the rest in the source entry as a rapidshare or so. Personally, I look favorably on such uploads and I'm very likely to approve them (edit--if they're good, that is).

Wouldn't it be wiser to put the rapidshare in a comment to the upload rather than as the source? I mean a static link to a rapidshare doesn't sound like a good idea seeing that the link will most likely expire at some point.

Both.

Argh, I should have pooled it when I had the chance when uploading.

The good/short question was only to reassure myself. Very relieving. And about what I posted, what bugs me is that, it's not an artbook, but it's not really a doujin.

Like I said, it's not really a doujin, but it's not an artbook. But since you say artbook is good, then I guess there's nothing to fear if I tag it as artbook.

Memes can be tags when there are a lot of pictures that feature it, like caramelldansen.

I'm also guessing that's also valid for common and very parodied attacks too. Like Gates of Babylon?

Not really related but I was able to browse danbooru and login on my PSP and it worked great. I tried to play a flash game (post #181164) but the browser choked after loading the menu.

Still better than my cellphone. Wanna trade your PSP for my Sony Ericsson? Tohno Akiha wallpaper included, it's a sweet deal if I say so myself.

Oh, onw (or two) more thing! If the nipples/pussy are half visible trough the clothing, but not completely...I mean, the girl is dressed alright, it's not wet or transparent clothing, but you can see the nipples' shape/pussy's lines...no problem taggin with nipples/pussy right? I know this question may be rather silly or just plain stupid, but it's still a doubt, and better safe then sorry.

edit: tags like "cover", "page01" and "end" are a big no?

Updated

A tag like "cover" should be ok. I've used it several times for some manga covers i uploaded. Making tags for page numbers is questionable, though seeing as you'd need to be a privileged member to take advantage of it (it's useless to browse page by page when you can't combine the tag with another one)

Don't bother with these, it's just clutter, a search for "page1" would just turn up the first page of a bunch of doujins. This is what a pool is for. Cover is fine I guess, but I would probably use this when I was uploading a cover and linking to the rest in a comment.

There's a cameltoe tag and an erect_nipples tag for this use.
