Tag Vandalism

Posted under General

Maybe not the correct place to discuss this though seeing the sockpuppet spam, I was wondering. I checked handful of posts he/she had edited and specifically removing no_socks.

It seems they are all posts where Sandals or slippers are displayed. Now if we check the no_socks description: Shoes, but no socks. I am expecting no_socks to be added to images where for example a person wears sneakers, without socks. What is a shoe? Or is 'footwear' explicitly intended here. Because slippers are not shoes. Neither are sandals.

Then again, Sandals or Slippers can be worn with socks. So no_socks is a logical to be added and shouldn't be removed. It depends on how the vandal viewed this. My guess is the former.

Either way, of course he/she should've open a forum post addressing it, instead going around and forcing this.

This tag is weird in any case.
1. This wiki page is locked which is kinda meh and 2. there is also the no_legwear tag.
Also Helepolis has a point: Sandals does not imply shoes. Therefore, the user doesn't really anything wrong since it fits.
Really, the no socks wiki should be opened because it has some flaws in it that leads to this misunderstanding.

He just wants to have all his accounts labeled 'sockpuppet'. Probably some fetishistic thing.

Based on my experiences here, it really seems like foot fetishists have an unusual tendency to be finicky and overzealous about tags related to their interests. Besides the individuals who have persisted in getting banned for vandalizing no socks, I can think of at least a couple other users whose tag edits revolve entirely around feet and footwear. It can be frustrating to deal with people who are insistent on following their own personal definition of a tag or are hellbent on making a particularly disliked tag go away. You can't really call them vandals when their edits are mostly constructive and apparently made in good faith, but they follow behind tag gardeners to strip away tags without any discussion, which really isn't the way things should be done around here.

I think that wiki is locked because that guy was spam editting it, too.

And looking at some of their accounts it looks like the wiki edits they made were all adding/deleting japanese text, so the person might not speak english.

user #102330 is making thousands of dubious edits without bringing anything up on the forum. Almost 5000 within less than two weeks and today alone there have been 2100+ edits so far. Considering the tagging speed, those must be scripted and would be better suited for BURs, if they’re actually wanted. Prior to the tagging spree, the user had only about 200 tag changes. No forum posts at all.

Some examples:

Edits since 2623133.21250492 @ 2018-06-01 12:31 UTC seem suspicious.

A little off-topic but someone should check the user's wiki edits too while they're at it, he has made some new tags that I'm not sure if they are wanted.
