Male: the vital tag nobody uses.

It would be nice if the registration page included a notice to use the tag for images lacking females.
At least 15% of the site should have the tag, but it never gets added.

I cant tell if the motive is wanting to find the rare male-only images more easily (understandable) or an intense aversion to seeing these images (in which case just blacklist yaoi, which is presumably the complaint).

Since I'd like to be able to filter out man-only images? I imagine other people would like to be able to as well.

Personally, I think it could be useful, since it's a distinguishing characteristic. I always consider the situation where you've seen an image, and want to find it back, but only remember snippets of the image. You may remember that the character had pink hair, or blue eyes, or that the character was winking... But you might also remember that the character was male.

I'd also use it for images with both males and females, with maybe a "male_only" tag for images with... males only.

Ehhh I don't like the idea. About all I'd personally support is using 'male' on male-only posts, and I only support that from the standpoint of someone who is interested in male images at Danbooru, but knows they're so tough to find. Not so much for people who just want to blacklist them all, though it'd suit their needs by association.

Then again, I upload so few male-only images that I'll probably forget to add it. I won't be tagging male-female posts with male however, unless albert and the other mods render the decision that it should be done.

Yeah, that works for me too. I always try to over-specify everything.

I had been using it for images where all the characters are male. I can edit the existing ones to use a better name if you want.

I think "male_only" is a lot more descriptive. If you just use "male", it's going to wind up on lots of pictures that aren't male only, but just happen to have a male in them.

I notice albert posted a male_only tag recently, but all the other posts are still "male".

What about female only images?

That's probably over 90% of the site, so it'd be tag-spammy to add it to every single such image. The rationale behind a tag like male_only is to find help a user find something rare.
