Trisha Elric is also sometimes depicted with her hair like this: post #1103137, post #1102399, post #1166816.
low-tied hair or long hair tied low would be my pick.

+1 for long hair tied low.
another +1 long hair tied low
+1 for low_tie_ponytail, it sounds better than the other variations.
Middle_tie_ponytail would work for something like post #585504.
Ponytail really isn't the right word for this. The whole reason it's called a ponytail is that when its tied near the head it resembles an actual pony's tail. Have the tie anywhere else and it doesn't really qualify for the name.
long_hair_tied_low is better, but sounds awkward to me. It would sound a lot better just by reversing the name to low-tied_long_hair.
post #585504, if it's really necessary, could use something like mid-tied_long_hair, instead.

I wrote in the long hair tied low wiki that the hair can be tied somewhere between the middle and the end to qualify. I also added that the hair can be braided, and then whoever wants to find that hairstyle can do a long_hair_tied_low braid search for characters like Lenneth Valkyrie, Shidou Hikaru and Akemi Homura.
I tagged a bunch of images last night and built up a decent list of popular characters with the hairstyle if anyone wants to help me tag them.
Akemi Homura
I don't see either patchouli_knowledge or akemi_homura falling under this tag. The former just has bows on her payot most of the time, and the latter just has twin_braids. The point of this tag was for the hairstyle that involves the majority of their hair in one tie, not just any style that involves ties at the end.

Fixed wiki to eliminate braids and payots, and also removed related posts.
I came across an unusual case and wasn't sure what to do. It's about Lieza from Arc the Lade's hairstyle - long hair tied low, then tied and continues with a small braid, like post #402737.
EDIT: Another case is post #1071524 where the hair is tie about one quarter away from the head and falls loose. How close would the tie have to be at the head for it to constitute a ponytail instead of just hair tied low?

What about the proposal for mid-tied_long_hair?
low-tied_long_hair sounds better than all other options proposed so far.
mid-tied_long_hair seems to be a bit too specific but if people can find enough images it applies to then I guess it won't hurt either.
So are we going with long hair tied low or was that jumping the gun?
long hair tied low is ok, but low-tied long hair fits better with the pattern we set for other tags (using noun phrases, rather than predicates or clauses). I'd probably prefer that we keep things consistent in that way.
So is it ok to go with long hair tied low?
