Ravens and crows are part of the Corvus genus, but they are not the same bird. Ravens are also large birds, about the size of a young cat, while crows are about a quarter to half as small.

Apparently they're much more difficult to tell apart outside of Europe since they're not grey of body...

Definitions of "crow" and "raven" vary. If we're going to define them as different birds then the wiki entry for crow will have to be changed, since it currently says it includes ravens.

Sometimes, it is hard to distinguish either one in some drawings.

This reminds me of tate eboshi, in which two visually different hats (tate eboshi and kanmuri) lumped together in a single wiki.

i would support too the alias:

create alias crane_(bird) -> crane_(animal)

any direction would be fine. pretty sure somebody else is bound to use the other in tagging work.

Aliased to _(animal) for now, since it's the tag in use. Could go either way though.
