That first one is a significantly higher resolution version of post #1573044. Which has a score of 25 and 55 favs. The second one is, I could be wrong, but I believe from the same artist, features the same character and source, and is just as good.
I could get if some moderators have wildly different tastes, but these getting unapproved legitimately makes zero sense...

Sometimes things just don't get approved, score and faves isn't really an objective measurement of quality (you can look at order:score and see the pattern). Those images also don't really scream anime/japanese style to me, they look kinda western or photo-referenced.

Yeah. There's actually a tag for those kinds of images: realistic.
And they tend to be of the highest quality.
