Related artists/characters/copyrights

Posted under General

I use them. Related characters is useful for finding relatively obscure characters that may not otherwise show up, for example. By the way, is there a way to find related tags for some tag without actually typing it into the edit box of a particular post? Seems I haven't come across one, at least.

I use the "related characters" feature quite a bit, not so much the others, especially for copyrights that I'm not really familiar with. But it would probably be less DB-intensive if you could do it for a specific tag, instead of all of the tags that a pic may have.

(I sometimes remove all tags from the edit box except the one I want to check, and then have to hope I don't accidentally submit while it's retrieving the related characters for the tag.)

Mainly I use it when I'm not sure of the spelling of an obscure-ish character's name. Can't really think of when I would use "related artists" or "related copyrights" while tagging that wouldn't also work well with just "related tags". However, finding "related artists" could be quite useful as meta-tag in a general search, to, say, find artists who like to draw thighhighs for instance.

I use them constantly. In fact, I use them so much that I even gave up danbooruup autocomplete in order to be able to use them (because of the conflict that left you only able to use one or the other).

I'd use related artists a lot but it often doesn't bring up the right artist. Danbooruup's find artist feature works much better, might there be a way to copy what it's doing? Or is it more accurate because it's based on a history of what I upload?

I use "related characters" from time to time. What I do is enter a series name, and then use that to get the names of the characters -- this is especially useful when you know the personal name of the character, but not their surname.

This is the only reason I don't use them, I need my autocomplete. Before that conflict appeared (I remember a time when both could run simultaneously, perhaps I'm mistaken though), I made use of that feature a lot, especially with group pictures.

I would suggest that a nice addition to the "Related x" searches would be to have a link next to the result that brought you to the page for that tag, in a new window, similar to the ? link on existing posts. So if you're not sure what, say, zettai_ryouiki means, you can easily look it up.

Albert seems to want to remove things here, not add more options that would increase server load. At present you can just middle click the tag that comes up and you'll have its results page in another tab/window. Then just click the '?'.

An extra click or two, but I'm more likely to want to go to the list of posts to figure out what a tag is than the wiki. And it doesn't require the server to bring up links to the wiki for every tag that comes up... which can be 100+ if you do 'related' on a post with a lot of tags.

Related 'x' can already can take a good awhile to load its results, so I wouldn't want to see something implemented that might lengthen that.

(I use firefox, imagine it's similar in other browsers)

As I see it, the most/only useful Related * is copyrights/characters related to copyrights/characters.
Maybe it could be handled in a different way?
For instance, adding character/copyright tags to the wiki of a copyright, and fetching the data from there.

Yeah, I think I've suggested something similar before.

When an image has 15 tags and only 2 really matter for "Related", it's a bit of a pain to wade through everything else, and a pain for the server to send out all those queries, no doubt. I'd love to see it streamlined.
