Danbooru

upload limit; omitted posts

Posted under Bugs & Features

I would like to request two features.

A: I would like Danbooru to notify me when my upload limit has been reached BEFORE I try to submit my post. At that point, I have already put in the effort to tag it, find the source etc. and then I'll have to do it all again when some of my pending submissions have been approved (or disapproved).

B: I suggest notifying the user when some post were omitted, especially when they belong to a series. In particular, I'm thinking of the loli tag. When you don't show the posts, I would like to be at least to be informed that there is something missing in my search results. (It could also mean a higher incentive for users to upgrade? I'm not sure of the psychological dynamics here.) I repeat, this is especially important in a series, whether the post has a banned tag or has been disapproved.

If you're browsing a pool doesn't it already tell you this?

eg. Let's say page 5 of a pool doesn't have the loli tag but page 6 does. You click next on page 5 and you'll be brought to page 6. There you see "You need a gold account to see this image." It doesn't skip over the post so you'll know that a page is censored because of that message. The same applies to banned posts in pools too.

Does it? I remember that I was upset at some point because it didn't. Maybe I wasn't using the arrows for navigation but clicking on the posts in the overview. I think there should also be a note in the search result page / pool overview.

Also, I meant to post this in bugs & features, can somebody move the thread?

Did this for the next version; /uploads/new will have a header at the top warning you.

Yeah the overview/search results don't show any warning, other than there being less thumbnails than normal on the page.

So you want something like a notice in the sidebar saying "Censored posts on this page: X"? Though pools don't have a sidebar so I'm not sure where it would go in that case.

Awesome!

That would do. Where to put it in the case of pools is a question I hadn't thought about. One possibility would be to display something like a grey rectangle with a notice instead of the thumbnail. However, some pools may contain lots of censored images with a few non-censored in between. In that case it becomes more difficult to navigate the content you CAN access. In my personal opinion that would still be better than the status quo.

Ah, another thing that I just noticed, related to the upload limit warning:

Usually, when I submit a new picture, the submit button takes me to the uploaded picture. But when I submit the very last pic (so that my limit is reached), it displays a warning, saying that my upload limit has been reached as though the submission was unsuccessful. But when I look in 'uploads' under my profile, I can see that my submission was uploaded after all.
That happened to me twice now. The first time I was just confused, now I'm confident that it's a bug.
