I hope they at least accept alcohol intolerance and/or family history of alcoholism as excuses to abjure sake and beer outright. (Even without that family history, I'd never want to get drunk. I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of my perception and reasoning getting distorted even briefly...)

I dread to see the day when the only drinks available in the world would be booze... I'd rather drink when I want to, not when I need to.

You speak as though there's something GOOD about compromised self-control. Mind telling us what that is?

If you've never been drunk then it'd be far too much like trying to describe a rainbow to a blindman.

THINK OF ALL THE TOUHOU YOU WON'T REMEMBER WHEN YOU ARE DRUNK!
And ZUN, will rather shake his head at us for not drinking till we are drunk than at us breaking Touhous while we are drunk.
And he ENJOYS drinking, he doesn't enjoy being drunk.

    Fun you quinoa remember, then?

But seriously, why would you NEED drunkenness for fun? Granted that I have Asperger's Syndrome, meaning there might be some social given that I'm missing here...

At first I thought this was Tag tournament.

Anyway, drinking beer to beat the hangover is a common practice here. And explaining why getting shitfaced with friends is fun to an asspie abstinent is like trying to describe how chocolate tastes to a person who never ate it.

And yet Kogasa can't handle alcohol at all.
How the hell did she survive living there?

You don't need alcohol to have a good time just like you don't need half a bottle of lighter fluid to start your charcoal. It's a good catalyst though.

Oh boy, on the question of drinking, I'd have to say I'm relatively close to the same position as Skyknight:

    Skyknight said:
I hope they at least accept alcohol intolerance and/or family history of alcoholism as excuses to abjure sake and beer outright. (Even without that family history, I'd never want to get drunk. I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of my perception and reasoning getting distorted even briefly...)

However, I don't try to say anything about my own family's past or the like, I generally get by with a simple polite but insistent, "Thank you, but I don't drink."

That said, I do not look down on the freely made decisions others have made. I don't drink because I fear the loss of self-control, but others find it fun, and it's not my place to judge that. I only step in when someone clearly does not know their limit, and is about to take some obviously self-destructive behaviors. (Oh, boy, the stories from college dorm life I could tell...)

For that matter, I don't smoke, and grew up with a mother who positively abhorred it, but tend to try to be as accommodating as possible to people who do. Even if you want to talk about having a responsibility to help people quit, you will never get people to change their ways if you push them away with harsh judgment of their own personal character.

Throwing out insults upon everyone who does/doesn't drink only convinces the other side that your side is filled with jerks, and that by extension, their own side is the morally righteous one.

ZUN loves his beer, but I highly doubt ZUN is actually looking down on fans of his work who don't drink as much as he is.

Tosazuru Although the company is spelled "Tosatsuru", its brand name is always pronounced "Tosazuru".

    People from Tosa are amazing!!
Chirp-Chirp-Zeyo! "-Zeyo" is a very old, stereotypical Tosa dialect emphatic, strongly associated with Sakamoto Ryouma. Modern Kochi Prefecture is roughly coterminous with the pre-Meiji Tosa Domain.
    I'll prepare breakfast, okay?
I wonder if two cases will be enough?
Chirp Chirp Chirp Chiya! "-Chiya" is a Tosa dialect verb/emphatic, identical to "-da".
Until it's ready, drink some beer!
    Oh my. Morning.
