Brb, off to buy mandarins.

Tried it once before but I couldn't. The mandarin's skin is a little too thick and dense(?) to carve a proper circle.

Maybe with a knife and a little precision it might go well.

I just gave it a try with a fairly new x-acto knife. I just tried making little circles in it, not a whole face. It works pretty well as long as what you're using to cut the skin of the fruit is nice and sharp.
