Actually, this is Yuyuko's treat (based on the previous strip) so unless yuyuko's an ass (which I doubt), Kogasa and Sanae are just too dumbfounded at how pricey everything is on the restaurant to the point they're having doubts on how Yuyuko can pay for everything

So instead of the usual eye-popping, only the irides(?) drop off? This is new.

Good eels cost much as good sturgeon and tuna. if $100 fills you up, that's a good thing. Unagi in general isn't too filling, which is why it's always eaten with rice, unlike most other fishes, which can be eaten as sushi or sashimi, as in lone raw fish state.

On the smaller note, did QB got eaten? What's that in Yuyuko's mouth? D:

Apparently Kyubey's tail, with Kyubey already re-manifesting (hence its "But I was on time...").

Total price, 33,600 Yen, or $432.99... That's more than enough to feed most household for weeks.

I don't think I could eat that much...(unless the portions are different) probably 3/4 but then I'd be really full and screaming about how competing with Yuyuko was an idea that would yield only failure.

Other than that, my mouth is watering with delight at the descriptions, if only I could be there (to eat of course).

Mizuki-san notes that while Mr. QB didn't get there in 5 minutes after the phone call, he still made it in time to join them in line. He's not sure how QB managed it, though.

And to back up a couple of the other comments, he says ¥2000 could feed him and his wife for 4 days (3 meals/day), so this felt seriously extravagant to them. Then they had beer afterward. :-)

knowing Kogasauthor's luck, i wouldn't be surprised if this didn't go awry like all of his other outings. i'm leaning towards complications with yuyuko when it comes time to pay for the meal.

The condition of her treating them was them doing some art for her book. Odds are she won't be expecting just a page or two.

If she were paying around $110 per person for commissions, I'd expect two full color pictures, or three black-and-white, or four or five sketches per person (with slight variations depending on the number of characters per picture). With three artists, that's about enough illustration for a light novel, including cover art.

People in Japan don't go out like this that often, so when they do they spend quite a bit. The average drinking party price, with food, can be more than 4000 yen.

I went with a group to a place like this once. I'm pretty sure I didn't eat more than usual and spent about 6000 yen. I'm sure sure that's only a bit more than average for an outing like that.
