It's shaved ice, we call it "ice kachang" (or ais kacang) here, don't know what it means though, the name's in Malay.

kacang mean peanut in malay if im not wrong and it some what similar to shaved ice jus the ice kacang put in more colored syrup and condensed milk and some cube jelly and peanuts and comes with a few variety...

Is this similar to the Korean term (or version) of the dessert known as 'Pat-bing-su' (팥빙수 - Red Bean Ice Shavings). If it is, then I'm a big fan of this dessert, the red beans are extremely delicious (and not too sweet for me). It's one of the few cold desserts I can tolerate (don't eat ice cream or anything with Milk/Dark Chocolate in them due to health, allergic reactions and also don't like the taste). Although Red beans aren't the only things they put in, but merely the basis along with the ice.

i do believe in the context on "ice kachang", the "kachang" may stand for "kacang merah" or red beans. It's primarily the main ingredient for the dish, along with nata de coco, attap seeds, corn and assorted agars/jelly. There are variations depending on the country. In Singapore, additionally toppings such as durian or strawberry paste are added. In chinese it's also known as 红豆冰.

Usually had them plain ice with condensed milk and syrup only. Or maybe with jelly, but less often using beans or fermented jackfruits, basil seeds, sweetened seaweed or whatever else there is. It's a mix and match menu with several "set mixture" available for choice.

Es serut is an Indonesian term for shaved ice. Es campur has more variety in it than es serut in Indonesia with all those syrup and jellies.

I know that's how you're supposed to read it, but for some inexplicable reason I can't read it that way. It's like my brain is forcing me to see it as a Brooklyn accent, despite how it's translated with an implied Dixie accent.
