But wouldn't a silver mirror be LESS likely to give a reflection? I think I remember a movie or something where a vampire's reflection was shown in normal mirrors but not silver mirror.

I never did understand the whole, vampires not being reflected by mirrors, thing. I mean, for them to not have shadows (another legend) and not be reflected by mirros would mean that basically light ignores their very existence. Just passing through them without bouncing off...but if that were the case, then we wouldn't see them either!

Maybe a sort of 'fate' trait, that they aren't meant to be alive and so, nature itself tries to ignore them and they generate their own light reflections somehow naturally...oh god...the vampires from twilight. Nooooo.

Anyways, if it's about them 'not supposed to be there' then, yeah out of all vampires you'd think Remi would have the best way to counter that...well, all this is just ramblings I guess.

Not all cultures have their vampire lacking reflections or not casting shadows but it is usually tied to the belief that vampires lack of a soul. Silver, a metal associated with purity, is not specifically tied to the "no mirror image" thing. Silver wasn't even a component of European mirrors until the 19th century unless it was the "extremely polished surface" variety of mirror.

Asian vampire variations followed different rule systems.

Yeah and Remilia is considered more an asian vampire than a western one (possible effect of ending up in Gensokyo)

I don't think there are such things as Asian vampires. The closest I can think of are Chinese zombies (jiang-shi), but as the name implies, they are really considered zombies.

It's quite clearly implied that Remilia is a western vampire.

i still think that the myth used in the rpg-maker game vampires dawn is still the best explanation for all those weak spots most vampire have and some don't
short: there was one person where all of it began, the first vampire, he is the strongest one, he "creates" some other vampires (first generation) that are a little bit weaker. when these 1st gen vampires also create some vampires, thats the 2nd gen. each new generation will become weaker than the last. beginning at the 3rd or 4th gen, they get weak agains sun, silver, holy water etc.pp. and have those flaws that they have no reflection and/or shadow. even the magic power begins to fade.

Hmm. Check out the phisongnang of Thailand. And there are likely more types of vampires in other parts of Asia.
