Artist's commentary

  • Original

Yes, Mizuki. Sometimes, people from a far land are reading your stuff. And rarely, they come to you, to tell you that you rock.

If I ever meet him, I'm going to confuse the heck out of him in French, then troll with English then finally just be like "okay lol I speak Japanese it's all good."

English is a universal language. Big assumption is that if you are a white foreigner in Japan is that you can speak English.

    > Actually, like I said in the child post, I spoke to him with both english and "japanese" words (watashi wa Furansu-jin desu was the best I could do). He got my point anyway, I was afraid that he didn't understand what I meant to say but I can tell now that he did.
Actually, I regreted later that I didn't say something to support him in french (to be sure he understood) like "Je vous souhaite le meilleur pour la suite" ou "C'est un honneur de vous rencontrer", but, well, that wasn't that important anyway and he already looked like he was confused because he didn't know how to respond, I think that was bad idea afterall .

    So, now:
    - Danboorians met Mizuki Hitoshi & his Waifu (probably)
    - Mizuki-san himself knows about Danbooru.
The only thing left is for Kogasauthor himself to comment here. It'd be double-epic considering his engrish uber-skills :3

And I think I will buy something for him from France (but not food, don't wan't to make his wife angrier xD)

But well, I'll think about it (srsly), I've already cosplayed in Chen once so it's not a big deal ...
Edit : He speaks in english and yet he uses Hiragana because he wanted to say that he couldn't really speak english fluently and that he had an accent I think.

If I come to Comiket next summer, I think I will offer a little present to Kogasauthor, something frome France that would survive the travelling and not be a hindrance in the plane, I could bring him something from Paris but I have no idea what to offer ...
Anyone ? I think that danboorians who don't live in France would now what no-French people would like to have from France or Paris.

    Co250: Why? o.o

Poilu: I'll see, if I can still make it to the natsukomi next year. If not:
Let's meet at Natsukomi 2013! xD
I'll definitely be there^^ Then I make an entry in the Event-Section of this nations biggest anime-community in the beginning of the year and "announce" it in the newest kogasa-san-4koma. :)

As for present: Sorry! If I think about stuff from France, I usually think of baguettes and wine^^; So.. Yeah, something that isn't THAT common, might be good xD.
I personally, will give him/them a snack, thats only made in here in germany - and exported only to austria afaik.
So, it's something strikes against that usual "beer&sausage"-manner and something they can't get in japan also.. :D
(On the other hand: If it's that hot, Kogasauthor might prefer a chilled beer rather than something to eat..^^; )

@Lowtyper: Its a lame joke, but seriously that was the first thing I thought about.

well, (lame) jokes aside. I dont know much about France, but hey, is perfume ok? I mean, women like perfume, dont they? that will be a great present for Sanaewife. I cant think of anything else for Mizuki, so thats my only (current) suggestion

yeah, its kinda sad, and Im not even sure if I can go to Japan when I have a job and my own life :(

Uuuh. If I ever get to Japan, I'd love to join you in visiting Natsukomi. We'd be quite a bunch, though - Poilu is from France, Lowtyper is german, I'm russian, and there's a lot of people from USA commenting here as well... Mizuki-sensei was genuinely freaked out by a guy from France - just imagine his shock when an international delegation comes :3

    Co250: You have my sympathy. My best friend and the most other Anime-fans I know here are just like that.. They have to study their butts off. And when they finally get enough money, I might already have a family..^^;

Type-kun: It would definitly be funny^^ I went last year with some mate, who are not really into Anime and stuff.. We were already 5 different Nations - or ethnic groups(?) - half-russian, half-filipino, half-pole, a "full" turk and a "real" german.. :D And now you may guess which of these were me, if you like xD

Poilu: Yeah, I always dreamed about it: travelling there with my german ("Otaku")-Friends - But as I mention earlier, that won't be happen it seems. So I immediately brought that up.. xD
But b4 we organize something, I would like to know if I'll be there xD Right now, I'm just trying to get days off in mid-august - wish me luck! I would hate you forever if you guys do it without me D:
I've got 2 ideas: one for the gathering at the natsukomi and one for a present for Kogasauthor - but none for how to organize this meeting xD (for now)

I highly doubt I'll be able to get in Japan in the following year, because last years of Uni and lack of money, combined with my total lack of Japanese, are soul-crushing =_= Well, anything is possible, though :3

2Poilu: Still wondering what to bring as a present? Buy that yellow suit and make a photo of yourself cosplaying, erm, yourself :3 Recursion is always good, matryoshka approved!

Well, because you're the only one I could ask about Mizuki-san's appearance :3
Also, I'm really interested what his wife looks like, and since he drew himself accordingly to his looks IRL, we could assume that his (sanae)wife also has appearance similar to one in that post. So, out of 2 women you met at convention, was there one with similar looks? If there was, well, congrats - you DID meet Sanaewife. And you finally can tell us how much she's, erm...different from Sanae in that comic ;3

Uwah ... I really don't know what kind of sweets you are talking about.
I don't know if it's done abroad to, but our bakeries usually sell their own products that they have invented, so we can see many differents sweets in one bakery that we won't see anywhere else, those sweets are usually named after the bakery name's or something like a famous place nearby (Like "la gobelinoise" etc) it could have been the case for you, dunno.
You gave me an idea, something like Macarons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaron) would do I think, it isn't that costly and they aren't that common. I think it would make a good present ...
But actually I would feel like every others fans who offered him food. I'd prefer to give him something more original and something that can be found only in France. Rah, I really have no idea.
