    "Snow bug" or "snow fly" sound better, though the latter is used for another type of insect.

    "Snow aphids"? Strictly speaking 「雪虫」 refers to the species Prociphilus oriens, but there's no common name for it (in English) other than the catch-all term "aphids" that is also used to refer to most other species in the genus Prociphilus.

    I went ahead and changed the TL notes. Hope you don't mind.
