I'm not all that confident about the last line. 空気だったな seems like she could be saying she's been pretty benign/inactive/unnoticeable/part of the scenery/etc.

If you read this all series, Sanae has corrupted Youmu so much already, that she can just sit and watch.

If Youmu becoming a chubby-chaser is better, then yes.

Personally, I'm not quite sure if I can be as happy with chunky Reisen as Youmu is, but your mileage my vary.
