Canon says that Remilia can manipulate fate. So I guess she can probably read someone's fate too, and she probably knows what happened.

She's probably just torturing Koakuma because she doesn't like bullies.

It wouldn't be too hard to figure out. Assuming Remi wasn't oblivious to the fact that Koa was bullying Patchy earlier in the series, it'd make her the top suspect for hiding Patchy's book when it went missing. Considering the chances of Patchy misplacing her most precious book, and then not finding it after tearing the entire library apart, I'm sure Remi figured out that someone hid it from her. Then Koa being the one that "found" it only makes her look more suspicious.

Koa's only defense seems to be that she didn't know about Patchy's condition.

So...is that last panel a cue for this song to kick in?

Unfortunately that's no defense. That's like saying "Oh I didn't know if I hit somebody with a deadly force I could kill them". What Koakuma did would've had consequence anyhow, but she triggered it.

All what it means is that if you were to commit a robbery and the guy dies of a heart attack, you could only hope for a reduced sentence compared to if you deliberately used lethal force.

Which you would normally get. Some form of manslaughter if no direct force was applied.

Cool victim blaming, bro. Koa is the abuser, Patchy is the victim, which means the responsibility for this all rests on Koa, period. That's why any of this happened, and she's guilty.

I love that this comic has gotten so many people (including me) so emotionally invested. Good stuff.
