I'm not fully versed in Death Note lore, does it still count even if you don't finish spelling it? Is there a chance she didn't think of her face when writing it?

Technically, she already finished writing her actual name. She just didn't finish the -chan honorific.
The spirit of the rule is to ensure you kill a specific person, rather than someone random who happens to have the same name. Considering she also wrote her year and class number, and she likely wasn't thinking of any other Zetsubou-chans, it likely narrowed it down to her. Does she literally have to think of her own face while writing it? Probably to make it work, yeah. Did she do so at any point during the moment she was writing? Who knows? I think it's likely it at least flashed in her mind even if for a brief moment, and that's probably good enough.
Now, if we wanted to nerd out over this more, if you take this series to be a self-contained universe rather than a series of one shot gag comics, than we know she survived to adulthood. So we know she wasn't killed by the Death Note, or if she was then she was somehow revived later, barring clones and whatnot. Although considering the ditto comic (post #9274456), that might not be farfetched. In fact, considering the brain in a vat comic (post #9208565), she may very well be in a simulation that allows her to die repeatedly so it really isn't out of the question for her to die here yet still reappear later on.
