As much as this episode pained me, and no matter how much I find his actions hurtful (regardless of intent) I can at least academically understand Satoshi's reasons and fears, and thus why he did what he did, however petty and selfish. I'm glad that Mayaka didn't seem as heartbroken as I'd expected her to be, and even more so, that the phone call could "cliffhanger" perhaps meant Satoshi reached "that point" sooner than he'd thought he would. Perhaps even because of what he did.
