Wow, the joke is way too obvious.

    Still funny though.

And I made fun of Aperture Science for selling their gelatine as food seasoning.

On the second read-through, I imagine Okuu actually monologing those textboxes about radium in chocolate before offering the cookies. And then I realized that could be considered canon.

Well considering Thorium was used in old gas mantle lanterns in the past, it wasn't that well known. Apparently if you had one of those still and brought it to a nuclear reactor, it would cause the whole place to go alert.

Also history shows us that many dangerous chemicals and substances were once used haphazardly, for instance, I believe in China, Gunpowder was first thought to ward away evil spirits until a warehouse full of it blew up the storehouse and 100 royal guards with it. Along with that, I believe Chlorine gas was once used as flavouring for food, so yeah, history has a lot to surprise us with.

That wouldn't surprise me. After all, if I'm right, China's first emperor died from drinking lead. He believed it would make him immortal.

Indeed... but lead was widely used in canning for many years. It's thought that more then a few people who relied almost wholly on canned food - sailors, for example - met painful deaths from ingesting so much lead contaminated food.

And then there's the whole history of lead in the Roman empire..plumbing for drinking water, sweetener for wine...

Why get sick for no reason? We should just teach Okuu how to cook properly instead.

You'll need a lot of lead shielding in the kitchen.

If I'm allowed to measure its reactivity first.
    Probably yes,

Hmm, so you would eat it regardless of it's radioactivity, as long as you knew exactly how radioactive it is.

Journal log entry. My analysis of Danbooru users continues. While they will needlessly throw themselves into harms way, they will go to incredible lengths to pinpoint exactly how dangerous the situation is, and still continue regardless of the outcome. This finding may prove useful if disposable units are ever needed to investigate a hazardous situation first-hand, provided they are compensated with something cute. End journal.

    Carry on.

I would be more worried about the type of oven she used to bake them (in the case she even used one)

A little reference for those who aren't aware of its history.

For those of you who don't care to watch the video, a bunch of workers got radiation poisoning from glow-in-the-dark paint (and cosmetics-- free samples!) in 1917. Among other things, they were encouraged to keep the brush bristles straight by licking them.

When I heard the story, it was cesium... Or maybe that was a different but similar event?

Added to Food of Doom pool since it's implied that those cookies contain radioactive chocolate. As I'm still new to tagging stuff and adding to pools, remove it if it doesn't fit.

Who wants to be the first one to taste the chocolate cookies?
Radium was considered to be a body-enhancing miracle medicine, which is why it was added to all sorts of food products.
In 1898, Pierre Curie and his wife Marie discovered a radioactive element, radium.
One of the most famous radium-containing products is radioactive chocolate produced by Burk&Braun, sold in Germany in the 1930s.
Chocolate Typo, the correct spelling is "Schokolade"
