In support of this, it's worth noting that in pretty much all of the results for kamina_shades squirtle, there is some clear sign that the image is referring to Kamina's shades - they're tinted red, Squirtle is wearing a ragged red cape, or in at least one case appearing alongside Kamina himself. Also, a cursory check of the kamina_shades results shows them all having at least some manner of Gurren Lagann reference.
If there were other images of Squirtle, or anyone else, wearing glasses of this shape but were blue and/or surrounded by Pokemon rather than Gurren Lagann references, that'd be an argument for creating the squirtle_shades tag. :)
