    The Research Vessel

Once a month, an investigation team comes to the ruin we live in. Today, as always, we hid ourselves deep inside the building and waited for the unmanned, remote-control research vessel to pass by.
"We have come to set you free."
An automated voice kept on repeating this phrase as the ship passed by front of us and got dimmer and smaller as it travelled away.
My daughter asked me, "What do they mean by set us free?"
I replied, "I'm not sure" and looked back at the ship. Numerous cables and chains appeared from the sky and wrapped around the vessel. The vessel, hanging lifelessly, slowly disappeared into the sky as the chains pulled it up.
I was about to say something to my daughter when she said, "I wonder what's for dinner tonight.# So instead, I asked her, "What would you like to eat?" As I look into the smiling face of my daughter, I forgot what it was that I was going to say to her initially. I felt very grateful for my daughter.
