Would anyone else trick someone into eating this?

I dunno, there's tons of sugar in ketchup, so I'm not sure if this combination would really be that bad. Not that I volunteer to test it, but...

No, really... even tomato sauce isn't that bad...
Well, I suppose it all comes down to the individual and their gag reflex, but one can learn to eat anything if they're desperate enough.
But ketchup/tomato-sauce wouldn't be the worst/weirdest thing I've ever stuck in ice-cream. Cream-corn, bbq-sauce, nacho-cheese, cayenne pepper powder, dill-pickles... the list goes on, and I'm still alive.
...I did get sick a few of those times though; but no, not with the tomato.

Plain-Jane Vanilla, a type that was actually pretty mild to be honest. I wouldn't recommend trying exotic things in stronger flavored ice-creams until you have at least a vague idea on how it will taste.
