Yay, here's a reply a year later: you not only have taste in the tongue, but also in the larynx and epiglottis by way of special visceral afferent fibers of the vagus nerve. So I guess you would taste it briefly as you swallow it.

There are also some taste buds in the soft palate and a few more scattered around the mouth, although with much lower density than in the tongue. Plus, a lot of what we perceive as flavor actually comes from the aroma of food.
