    IKU-Tursoa kysyttiin joskus, tässä se nyt olisi.
    Valitsin Don Rosan versioinnin Iku-Tursosta, koska se on kaikkein tunnistettavin, luulisin.

    oh_boy_what_a_friday.jpg

    One day IKU-Turso was requested so here it is.
    I chose Don Rosa's version of Iku-Turso because it's the most recognizable, I think.

    Hmm that is a hardcover version of the Finnish publication of Don Rosa's Quest for Kalevala (Donald Duck comic). Do we have any tags for it?

    Was just about to post that but you beat me to it.

    Here is the Finnish harcover edition that Tenshi is reading. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fi/thumb/2/2f/Sammon_salaisuus.jpg/438px-Sammon_salaisuus.jpg

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iku-Turso

    Nagae Iku-Turso is single entity in my headcanon now. When finnish people stopped believing in their Native Faith (I have waited too eagerly to use that phrase) Iku moved to Gensokyo and adapted to its standards.

    Wikipedia TL;DR: Iku-Turso is said to be child of finnish God of Thunder...

    So, I wasn't the only one who recognized it immediately. The story is fairly badass, for a Donald Duck comic.

    At first Setz's Iku didn't have them but nowadays she has, nice addition if I say so myself.

    Don Rosa is a very loved artist in Finland, before and after "The Quest for Kalevala".

    Don't discount Donald Duck comics so easily.

    Haha! Amazing. I've read all the DD comics referenced here, but I didn't know that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas was inspired by them.

    First time I glanced at the image I thought setz had just photoshopped Rosa's Iku-Turso in. That's how good his rendition is. (Yeah, probably copied from model but still epic.)

    Should we make tags for Kalevala and/or Don Rosa? Also, should we add disney tag?

    Hell, should I just open up my copy of Quest for Kalevala to just tag everyone on those pages? I can make out at least Donald, Väinämöinen, and Louhi from this pic, and if memory serves, Scrooge, Magica de Spell, and the nephews starred the scene, too.

    Or would that be just a bit overzealous tagging?

    I'd say tag the Kalevala, Don Rosa, and Disney. Tagging DD et al., while funny, is pointless given that they're just blobs of colour here.

    Now all we need is to connect Marine Benefit with the Sampo...

    {WILL get around to finishing reading the Kalevala at some point}

    {already wondering if Wakasagihime will find herself on the receiving end of an Aino joke}

    We need a Touhou-Kalevala crossover...!

    ...or never mind... Only Finns would be exited of that and the total Finnish population is lesser than the amount in London alone... and spread in surface area greater than England... and then there is the math for the actual number of "nerds" in the nation... Don't think any mangaka would want that few fans...

    ...but oh well...
    ...I do have thought to make a "doujin-game" to honor ZUN with name like "Touhou Project - Metsänpeitto."

    What is "Metsänpeitto?" For starers, it is translated as something like "Blanket of Forest" or "Forest cover."

    The short version explained in English would found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mets%C3%A4npeitto
    ...and for some note, I wouldn't call "Maahinens" as "gnomes" as there are "forest gnomes" ("Metsänhaltijat") in Folktales for those who live in forests, and Maahinens are more of something called "Folk of the Earth" who live underground and in the ant nests.
