Thanks. The dialog is definitely homaging the name, but the application of the kanji is too different just to port over the meanings. (Besides which, the Wiki translates "人鬼" as "human soul", which is wrong. 魂 and 魄, the two kanji in "Konpaku", both mean types of soul, but 鬼, with no defining radical to its left, is just "oni".)

They "translated" the same spell card name for Imperishable Night "obsessor" for some weird reason. No idea where that came from.

Went by the wiki, but someone had beaten me to the punch, possibly because they were reading this page. Didn't see any mention of "obsessor" on the page at en.touhouwiki.net. It took me a bit to find the spell card at touhou.wikia.com, where it's under about four different spell card lists. (Actually, I think I can accept "Obsessor" for a "human oni", though I'd prefer to see a few contextual examples backing it up.)

Maybe Youki used a Chinese word for ghost to sound old-timey or something, or Youmu just wrote it down that way when she made the spellcard for the same reason.

Consider Tamahome from Fushigi Yugi, whose name is pronounced in the series in a way that evokes hitodama, but since he's in a Chinese setting he writes it with the character guǐ (and would probably pronounce it that way if the series wasn't localized to Japan.)

When I first saw this, I completely missed Sakuya's knife changing the course of history in panels 2 and 3.
