2980 seems a little pricey for that little part. But then again, isn't it just typical for the one part you need to be out of stock at the store nearest you, and the only store that has it is selling it for way more than the first?

Should've gone with duct tape, Kogasa-san. Oh, wait. This isn't the Apollo 13...

So the power relay unit broke, huh? It's the model YL-5301... Is it that expensive, though?

Edit: Ah, my bad. Unknowingly switched the model numbers around. It's the YL-5031. //bah

For those of you wondering, I google'd it. Fear the power of the search engine...

How can you tell the model by the comic?

Commentary says it's a magnetic clutch relay. $30 isn't that bad a price. Especially if it gets your AC working again.

Cant be 5301, it has 4 pins, and the 5301 has 3.
Now, a 5031 on the other hand... http://www.airconditioning.com.tw/product/show.asp?num=YL-5031/5031B

Hey, $25-30 for a replacement A/C part with no labor charges sounds good to me.

The part's apparently called a "magnet clutch relay". The point is, it's the on/off switch for the electricity. Seems they just degrade and break in about ten years.

The internet's amazing—you can inquire into and find out anything! Thank goodness it's fixed! If this had been a compressor breakdown, I'd have given up hope.

Reader-added tags include "Nitori: 'Sell me that part'", "You could probably get a job with Toyota's repair division, Kogasa-san", and "The umbrella youkai almost became an umbroiled youkai" (karakasa vs. karakara).

The survey knows the internet is really, really great:

What shall I do using the internet?

    • Feed my pets
    • Turn off the A/C
    • Check the contents of the fridge
    • Hack into the bidet
    • Bake cookies 'til I die

I can't relate on the parts due to me having a Third Gen Mitsubishi L300 aka Delica.... Anyway, sometimes, the hardest part of fixing something is searching for the spare part.

For the poll, oh crap. Kogasa's being absorbed by THAT game!

Seems reasonable to me, especially from an official dealership. Honestly, for an electrical component, it's what I'd expect to pay a secondary manufacturer, with an official dealer marking that up by anywhere from 25% to 100%.

I sure hope not. We'll never see another Kogasa comic ever if it is. That game steals people's souls and makes them its slaves.

$30.00 for an OEM a/c relay is cheap. I think here in the US, the dealers sell it for almost $50+. There may be aftermarket relays for older models that may be cheaper, but it'll still cost around $30 dollars.

Also, don't base the price of parts by their size. A lot of cars have small components that costs anywhere from $5 to $200 depending on the part. European made cars are notorious for this.

Perhaps the same could be said of ALL Games (sorry)

but for the poll, feeding pets, because eventually that program will feed humans, or just spill a bunch of uncooked ingredients on my plate.
