Good old lego. The sets around the turn of the 90s had such charm compared to the stuff we have now.

No orange chainsaw for the Ice Planet guy, though? Sad.

I had a ski-vehicle from that series with the orange chainsaw. It looked so badass. Also the old Blaxtron series.

Terajin really knows how to pluck people's nostalgia strings.

    Oh man, the reminder...
When I was like 4, I participated in building a Guinness-recorder Lego tower.

Don't worry, most kids have enough bricks to build a giant mecha to fight back... and they will build at least one in their lifetime, trust me.

I wish I still have my old lego set with me. It got lost when I moved my house a few years ago, dang it.

UserFriendly has just such a story arc. The resident AI builds a BattleMech out of Lego Mindstorms as its new body, and sends their marketing guy sub-orbital in a dumpster, just because it can.

I am overcome with nostalgia. He even got the Danish correct! I still have my Lego, all 20+ kg's of it, though I don't play with it anymore. My nephew loves it, so the torch has been passed on.

It sorta looks like it, with a tiny titan.

I remember the Blaxtron series though I liked the Castle theme stuff more. The Black Monarch's Castle is probably my pride and joy as a Lego owner.
In any case, while Terajin has a lot of illustrations that "take us back", gotta say this one in particular really struck a chord with me.

Does any one still have their Bionicle Lego collection? Those were the coolest lego sets in the world.

Bionicle is one of those Lego sets that felt more like customizable action figures, then actual building blocks. The Technic Lego series was truly the best of it's kind. I still have my collection in my mom's closet.

This is by all means cute. I remember when I had Lego I made everything: dragons, robots, even a store. If I ever have kids I hope they enjoy them the same way I did.

Man, I love the old Lego kits. I remember recently going to the Lego Store at a mall, and seeing it filled to the brim with all kinds of new sets. Of course, I also remember when Lego sets weren't mostly licensed stuff, and when they weren't about a billion dollars each.

I don't want to fall victim to nostalgia, but this picture just puts this big dumb grin on my face.

I know I'm tempted to buy their new "Hero Factory" figure, seeing that they're ultra cheap at $10, to $20. Then I remembered how weird it is for a 21-year old to still buy Lego sets made for 12 boys. I don't know man, Lego's new Hero Factory Set looks really awesome!

My brother has a ton of these and he always kept them on the floor. Legos are great until you step on one...

    Ice Planet, fck'yeeah!
I used to set up my Ice Planet station right next to the BlackTron surface panel. "This station is on the far side of the moon where the sun doesn't reach, and the BlackTron section once happened to come too close to a black hole".

... and this is my take [parody] on Attack on Titan: http://www.moddb.com/groups/lego-lover/images/attack-on-lego1

(sorry if my Lego building skills aren't that good, the Bionicle model was 4 years in the making)

It's unfortunate. Back in the early 2000s, LEGO very nearly went bankrupt due to a variety of reasons (the Legoland parks, introducing new pieces and colors without regard for how they could be used in other sets, etc.), and the licensed sets were ultimately what kept them alive long enough to get back on track. They're doing better than ever now, though (especially with the movie), so they want to dial back the amount of licensed stuff.

The ice planet stuff with the orange chainsaws were my favorite sets.
    That knight also looks familiar...
I had a medieval set with death in it. I wonder if hee is from that one.
