When trying to decide what imagery should be used in the scene where the Yamainu are preparing Rika for vivisection, for some reason I ended up going with a princess. Half of the whole thing was supposed to be a joke, but I think it ended up developing into something far more serious. Even if nothing is covering her body, if she knits a dress within her heart she'll be able to fight nobly and strongly. A dress is the battle attire of a girl, after all. That's the kind of chapter this is.

So I was pretty concerned at how I was going to fit that in. When I finally figured it out, I was pretty excited.

At the time I was absolutely positive that Hanyuu was going to vanish... so when I finished Matsuribayashi-hen, I was all worried, "oh no, I was not expecting that, what am I going to do now?" Well, actually, because I was thinking about it, on the contrary it turned out to be pretty good. Keiichi's way of talking is very distinctive. His words are short, easy to understand and persuasive...

-Love Letter Thanks to you guys this chapter got the best responce.This chapter was meant to add some cohesion to the previous five stories, so I put quite a bit of effort into drawing it. That said, I wondered if I might have put too much into it, and had too much going on during the first half of the chapter. When I was thinking about making this chapter, Minagoroshi-hen had just been announced, so Higurashi's story had yet to be concluded.

-Covers To anyone who owns the previous two volumes, I encourage you to take a look at them. This third volume should give a sense of connection between them. On the first volume's cover, there are papers strenw all about. At this point in time, Rika considers these papers to be accursed poems, thus her facial expression is dark, and the papers are crushed in her hands. On the back cover are the beloved people that were the subject of those cursed poems. On the second volume's cover she now considers the poems to be love letters and her facial expression is much happier. On the back cover everyone is recieving the love letters. On the third volume, the Rika from the second volume is comforting the Rika from the first volume in a way that says "they are nothing to be ashamed of. They are something that you should hold very dear to you". Multiple part stories are really fun, I hope to do one again sometime.

From the next page on is the chapter exclusive to this volume. It's a story about Rika and Shion after Matsuribayashi. So far this compilation has just been jam-packed with dark and violent stories, so I figured out that I would end on a simple, lighthearted tone to wash all the badness away. When she's not going completely insane, I think Shion is a pretty good girl. She's a very strong character. And with that, please, enjoy!

And that's it for the backstory. It was all trivial stuff, but if you asked me about it I would probably come up with a different interpretation, and re-reading stuff is a pain, so .. well, I guess it's fine as it is.
