Sorry, I'll clarify: There doesn't need to be a photo; mental images are what's being discussed in the image. "シコネタ" means "fapping material"—that is, images, sounds, etc. (real or mental) you use to get turned on, like watching pornography. It does not mean the actual item you use to get off. You're missing a definition of "material". It can mean more than something physically present; it can refer to a conceptual seed or springboard for ideas. The bizarre actions of a politician are not, in and of themselves, physical objects, yet they can serve as material for a comedian to turn into jokes. The subject of a gag, the idea or inspiration for the gag, is known in English as "gag material".

風鈴 is still correct; the admiral can fap to Atago, he can use his memories of her large breasts and areolae to get turned on. That's fapping TO Atago. If Atago gives him a boob job or they mutually masturbate, THAT is fapping WITH Atago.

Prominent in the first link is an explanation of the meme "I can't fap to this", defining it as "an expression indicating that a person is unable to masturbate using a specific stimulus." I guess it's because 'inch' is a more natural descriptor for length (in everyday speech) for native English speakers no matter what side of the pond they are.

Not that I'm a native English speaker myself, but that's the impression I got, and it does feel more 'natural' to me, and the meaning is still technically conserved if the unit conversions are done properly.

Plenty people here aren't native English speakers though. I'd say probably as much as 50% aren't.

I usually just leave the metric number as is and put the converted imperial number in the TL note.
