Just once I'd like to see someone other then Marisa and Reimu in 1st or 2nd place... but I guess that's my rooting for the under dog.

If it helps, 2012 had Alice (2nd) and Sakuya (3rd), 2011 with Sakuya (2nd) and Yuuka (3rd), 2010 with Sanae (2nd), and 2009 with Sakuya (2nd).

I'd would count 2005 and earlier but those numbers tend to be of a smaller pool. That being said, they're years where Reimu is not first (2004 has her at 6th; only year with her not in the top 5).

Interestingly enough, 03, 04, and 05 were years where Septette for the Dead Princess were not first (2nd, 7th, and 6th respectively) But then again music rankings are usually consistent.

If there's one thing to count on, the holy quartet will always involve Reimu, Marisa and Sakuya. I'd like to see Sakuya claim first again but c'est la vie.

Now then, I wonder who'll translate these. Kinda funny that the previous ones are translated by different people. It's like a game of who gets to translate first.

She won the first and the second popularity contest. I believe that those were the time that maido were popular. Then a year after Marisa took the 1st place for two popularity polls until Reimu becomes 1st on the 5th and later every popularity polls to date.

After the 9th popularity poll, I didn't care much for the 1st place (since Reimu would definitely win it), I'm more focus about the 2nd and the 3rd places.

But yet... situation change, we never know what thing could turn the tides in the popularity contest, we might someday expect something unexpected (Cirno becomes 1st).

And I'm still rooting for Rumia (just to make her way to the top 10).

I'd be surprised if Rumia made it back to the top 25. Then again, anything can happen, especially the enduring popularity of the EoSD girls after +10 years.

In the previous poll 2 years ago Alice got first place in amount of 一押し or "recommendation votes" (gives 2 points instead of 1). She still lost to Reimu in total points but got 2nd place.

I'm glad we got someone unexpected in 3rd place this year, though.

Or back in 2010 when Marisa beat Sakuya for 3rd by about 3 points.

I had a lot of hope for this one but unfortunatley we didn't kick reimu off her throne. I'm not too annoyed that Alice didn't win - I love her but my main priority is to get Reimu off her throne. Just like I'd like to see Wales or Northern Ireland win the world cup even if it's not my beloved Scotland.

I don't know how to strategically vote in the next one. Anybody want to start a campaign to get Koishi or Alice in the top spot next year?

Well, I'd love to see Alice to dethrone Reimu so count me in for that.

I root for Rumia too but that seemed to do little good this year. :(

This make me think that thwiki could really translate the polls in english and get way more votes, it's not that hard to find one or two of jap-eng translators and make a selectable language option during votations.

Someone DID pass around the polls on Tumblr, and got a few non-Japanese voters (I being one of them). I DO kinda wish they'd make the polls more inclusive for non-Japanese Touhou fans.

Some people need to realize that all these popularity polls don't mean much.
You just get the most known characters in the top positions, and that's about it.
