I was going to use "her" instead of "our" in panel 1, but with Futo's current gender a bit uncertain, I hedged.
Edit: Never mind, for some reason, I thought both Miko and Futo had changed genders during their conversion to shikaisen.

Futo, not Miko? Isn't she based off of a woman anyway?

Futo is female, Miko is based off Taishi, which could twist them to be male. But it's not all clear, at the moment. The only differences I see is trousers.

I'm hoping for rivalry. You know, "Miko was here, Youki is a loser" type rivalry.

I don't know if I'll like this. No matter what the author will do, with the current motive they'll end up causing a conflict, and one side will end up losing(or a draw, but that's not the point). If we stick to the Oni groups as the good side, then the Taoists will probably end up losing or being ridiculed. At the very least, they'll show up as an annoying group to the "main characters".

Not to mention that timeline-wise, they're too far apart, about 400 years. And since Tojiko's still alive(the legs, also Miko's cape<-unimportant), they can't be shikaisen yet and it further support the timeline inconsistency, which is 400 years earlier. If they are already a Shikaisen(along with Tojiko), then we can be sure that this is a parallel world.

Though this reminds me of another story with the Taoists meeting other Touhou characters in their past, which involves

I wouldn't mind an antagonistic Miko, I think she could pull it off VERY well. Almost Dio level of villainy and fantastic evil.

Anyway, I think the "don't make the Taoists antagonists" people are a little over-sensitive. Freakin' EVERYONE in Touhou starts as an antagonist until the fandom gets to know and like them, so it's just a matter of waiting out the initial slapdowns before the rivals turn into blood-forged allies for the rest of the run.

(Keep in mind, this whole plotline started because Sakuya was sent to undermine Yuyuko, and wound up saving her life, instead. Touhou characters have an amazing tendency to forget what their original objectives were, which probably has something to do with how whimsical their motives were to begin with.)
