    Just how the hell did the plane break off like that? Unless that's like Bauxite/Iron rice or something.

    most of the japanese planes were really fragile because of all the corners they cut to get their performance at the cost of safety the zero would pretty much literally if it didn't blow up in the sky would fall apart once the 50 cals we used in our planes got a bead on them because they pretty much had no armor and since they didn't armor the fuel tanks and fuel lines they tended to burst into flame when those were hit.

    No armor, no self-sealing fuel tanks, and no parachutes.

    Some of the reasons Japan lost scores of it's veteran pilots in the early war years.

    Yea but that looks like either a J2M or shiden kai which had armor and what not plus it was more the japenese kept their vets on the frontlines constantly while we cycled then between training new one and fighting
