    Could this be the war between Imperial Japanese and Soviet at Mongolia? I don't remember exactly, but I think the I-153 first combat with Ki-27 in Mongolia.

    Manchuria, actually. It's North East part of China, yet Japanese split it from China and used it as a client state and military base by that point
