Interesting thought:
It's a ship.
It's build for battle.
It's a battleship, even though it might not be in same tonnage class as a "battleship"

By similar logic, we may also conclude that MV Faina is a fixed-wing gunship, having fixed wings, having carried guns, and being a ship. (Lack of resemblance to an AC-47/119/130 or ability to fly is purely incidental.)
