I'm trying to figure out what those pouches in panel 4 are. They're kind of like containers I've seen for pureed fruit snacks, but I don't think that's it.

They are just drinkable pouches. You never seen them at your grocery store? Think of Capri Sun, now think that instead of a straw, you can just drink straight out of the pouch.

Indeed. They are quite common in vending machines across Western Europe.

As you note, drinkable pouches I see locally, a la Capri Sun, usually require poking a straw (included with the pouch) through a thinner portion of the pouch, rather than having the integrated screw cap like the ones shown in this strip. I also think Capri Sun-style pouches are bigger and have gusset-style bottoms so they can stand on end. (I may be misremembering the size, though; I've never compared the two.)
Anyway, while the possibility of them being drink pouches did occur to me, the first thing I thought of in seeing smaller, pinched-bottom pouches with the integrated screw caps was the fruit snack packs. With the dialog also talking about artificial ingredients, I wasn't too sure if the pouches were meant to be a specific drink product, generic drink product, some sort of flavoring, or what.
All that aside, the important point is "Do we have a tag for it?"
Oh, you can get all sorts of things in squeezy pouches in Japan, right from the convenience store! Often collagen and 'health' drinks and stuff with bits in it like jelly. Straight juice, less so (They normally come in bottles).
Could also be ice cream, you can get those in pouches too.
I've seen them before, but I've always wondered-just what do bamboo shoots taste like?
Pretty good. You can add them to alot of stuff. Ramen in particular is quite good. I can't really describe the taste though as I don't think it taste like anything else to compare it to.
I got my hands on a natural bamboo shoot!...but saying that, how does one cook this, I wonder?Hmmm... I'm searching, but "natural ingredients" in and of itself doesn't give me any hits...Let's cook it up right away!Artificial ingredients sure are grand...Yahooo!!The additives' flavour permeates your body...
