    With cursory research, it seems that 152mm AP shells were never delivered to KV-2 crews, but that an unsuccessful version was tested that managed to pierce roughly 90mm (~3.54in) of plate at 50m (but could not penetrate the same plate angled). There was a half-AP half-HE naval shell tested that could penetrate 100mm (~4in) at 500m with no angle. The shell the troops were issued, a concrete-piercing shell, could penetrate a 70mm (~2.76in) plate at 500m with no angle. (Source)

    Atago's armor belt and most of her deck armor varied in thickness between 38–127mm (1.5–5.0in). So I guess if they shot her somewhere other than her...thickest bit...they'd have a chance.

    While taking out a ship is unlikely, it could just HE the superstructure, why penetrate the armor plates when you can make the crew go up in a cloud of bodyparts? Given won't really work on a shipgirl but still the theory stands.
