    付喪神が生まれる時は、本来はじっくりと力が溜まっていって、依り代に力を馴染ませないと正常に生まれない所を
    九十九姉妹は小槌の力で急激に力を入れられた結果、依り代が耐え切れずに生まれてしまい、
    その所為で琴が体と癒着してたり、琵琶として大切な部分が失われていたりする奇形として生まれてしまったのではないかという考えに至り描いた漫画です。

    Are these her strings....? The neck-base is on the floor. She says "転がってる",and the "が" is missing. But, what's "鹿頸"? I searched it, but no Japanese was found. Assuming the other translator is here, 鹿 means bottom, or base, while 頸 means neck. I assume that it means that the shaft of the biwa, so she is referencing the fact that the neck broke at the towards the base.
    Right, I should be a koto. So I need strings too.
