It's not a crossover I'd expect to see. I wouldn't expect Japan to know about this meme.
You'd be surprised. There's a series of 4koma out there explaining a variety of western memes (off the top of my head all I can remember is "Checkmate, atheists") not to mention the blogs that translate entire 4chan threads.
