Inb4 this is about a piece of human flesh concluding that being eaten by the youkai in Gensokyo was better than whatever fate it could have in the outside world.
The story of humans from the outside world that have given up on living, either suffering from illness or life issues, and were just aimlessly moving on with their lives in the outside world. Then they were abducted into Gensoukyou and were about to submit to the fate of being eaten. But to their surprise, they were fixed into a fine cuisines, pleasing the various residents of Gensoukyo, and perhaps receiving a few bites from little girls' sweet teeth. They were given another chance in their life(?) to realize that their pitiful self can actually be useful to others.
Even in death, one can feel alive. What a wonderful Life of Meat.
But are all of the humans sent to Gensokyo like that? That's the big question.
According to Canni-can, nope. Though I would point out that the "meat" in Canni-can was described to be tasteless and it does not seem to be case here. Might have to do with the preparation method.
You can accidently end up Gensokyou because "Magic" and what not. But the specific humans sent to SDM are all mostly suicidal and gave up on life in the first place.
If you are one the normal ones that accidently ended up in Gensokyou, you can either find the Hakurei Shrine or the human village and have a choice to be sent back or decide to live a new life in Gensokyou.
I think it was brilliant. So very different and actually explained a heck of a lot about how the SDM residents stay alive and well, being vampires and all.
