I'd have been better off exiting at Sangen-Jaya and going back, but that would've been a waste of ¥900, so I spun right around and went to Haneda. :-)

I'd planned to get there in 10 minutes, but by rushing, I arrived exactly at the appointed time, so eh, it's all good!

I never thought there'd be a trap like that in Yōga

He actually labels it the "Karakasa Car", but I couldn't resist.

Also, having been diverted a good 10 miles out of my way once by being one lane off, then forced into a construction zone with extremely limited exits, I know how he feels here.

Reader-added tags include "Triple the usual even without turning red", "Yamame Virus: Vehicular" again, and "Some schadenfreude, eh, Yamame-san!"

The survey just can't wait to get on the road again:

What do you want to drive?
    • Bike
    • Car
    • Bus
    • Train
    • Bucket wheel excavator

I once had to drive a 30km diversion. It ended on the original road about half a km from where it started...

It's times like these, I wish I had working GPS in my car. Well, I generally fall back on regular folding maps, though getting them updated is a pain.

Smartphones and bit of sticky tack to keep it propped up on the instrument panel for the win... Particularly in an older car whose most advacned electronic feature is a CD player.

Although before that, I held out with ye-oldie flip phone for a loooong time, I did enjoy the occasional impromptu vehicular tour of the countryside. Probably the worst was when a horrendous accident totally shut down the highway I always used to go to work (a midnight shift no less) for miles in both directions forcing me to exit in an area I'd never been in my life. I soon became hopelessly lost and spent three HOURS looking for signs and trying to find a way to work while wandering through places one step below ghettos in the middle of the night. That was fun...

I can't resist plowing people off the road but personally a car is the easy no brainer one.

Haven't had that happen yet but usually I try to memorize the layout in my mind and place myself on the map, manual GPS. Haven't had it fail but have turned earlier sometimes...

Stuff like this can be good or bad.

Remember I was taking my sister up to a 80's themed club for her 21st birthday, or trying to at least, and getting tied up into traffic after a big basketball game made the usual maze of 1 way streets even worse by introducing cops and lane closures to the mix. We finally got parked an hour later no where near the club and wound up going somewhere else.

Another time I was in Kentucky and got stuck in traffic so bad everyone had shut off their cars. After an hour or so I gap opened up (thanks Yukari!) and I quickly fired up my car, cut across the median, and went back to where I started and took an alternate road... and wound up on one of the best "sports car top down" drives I've been on, all winding road and banked turns in the back country that eventually popped me back on the original road which I had to myself since everyone was still stopped further back.

Things have gone odd for the Car-akasa after getting in the wrong lane.
    But hold on a sec!

    Let's go back like this!
You drove 30 km even though I was only 10 km away?
