To be able to fight in both land and seas, and hearing that dreaded salvaging sound makes it more heartbreaking. There have been stories that you can hear a strange sound while by the bays of Cavite. This must be from her.

Nachi, Kiso, Akebono, Akishimo, Hatsuharu, Okinami along with countless cargo ships were sunk in the Manila Bay raids of November 1944. But for the Americans it was Tuesday, I couldn't even find a Wikipedia article on it.

It seems like it's harder to find stories about naval war engagements. It's like history cares more about land battles and just thinks air and sea stuff go on in the background. Like there's no people on those vehicles or that what they do doesn't matter as much in the grand scheme of things.

Case in point, the wikipedia article about the Battle of Manila in 1945 doesn't really mention naval involvement at all. Though if the raids and the ships you mentioned were sunk a year previously, then I suppose that's why.

At any rate, you almost seem to learn more about Naval battles by reading the articles of individual ships.

Well, the Battle of Manila was a completely separate engagement from the carrier raids on Manila Bay and the Cavite Navy Yard, being an infantry assault on the city itself and all. I think naval engagements are more obscure because they take place in remote seas or near islands the average person has never heard of, and the remoteness of the battlefields means there are very few observers besides the direct participants.

I don't think this excuses why the Formosa Air Battle, involving 17 USN carriers and over a thousand planes on each side, hardly shows up in history books except as a preface to the Battle of Leyte Gulf. This was the biggest air battle in the Pacific War and it's result decided the Battle of Leyte Gulf before it began.

    I can still fight!
Near misses spring leaks in Ushios's hull and damage her starboard boiler.
    Puff
    Don't go that way!
    Hatsuharu
    Kiso-san
Hey... aren't you forgetting about me ?
    Hey, it's all right.
    Kiso, KISO!!
Oh, so my order made it through.
    Where are you going?
    ...Damn it... Hey... Everyone...
    Don't leave me behind!
    I'll protect you all!
    -so
That was ten years after the war had ended.
We can continue to fight as long as we want
We can brag to Okinami once she arrives.
    protect them on foot.
Let's stick together everyone, all right?
    Kiso Dead: 89 Casualties: 105
    Screeeech
Roasted by the flames, she grounded under heavy damage.
...hey, what are you guys doing?
    Pow-pow-pow-pow-pow-pow
    Run, Ushio!
    Puff
    Clang
Don't take my armaments away, I can't fight without them.
Evening - Fleet HQ sends Hatsuharu the signal to retreat three times.
I can only fight on water.
It is said that the hull of Hatsuharu was still burning two days later...
For a few days, the crew of Kiso protected themselves by firing machine guns from the wreckage of her hull.
    February 3rd, 1945 (Showa 20)
    Ooooh!
    Ooooh!
    Huff
American's forces attack Manila City. The Battle of Manila.
I'll fight, even without my weapons.
    Is everyone alright?
A series of near misses sets Hatsuharu afire and her hull lists to starboard.
    Please!
    Swing
You guys don't seem so good... Like you're half gone or something...
What are you spacing out for?
    Puff
    Puff
    Rustling
    I'll protect you all!
Morning, November 13, 1944 (Showa 19) Aircraft from the American Task Force 38 raid Manila Bay. Task Force 38's carrier tasks groups 38.1 (Hornet, Monterey, and Cowpens), 38.3 (Essex, Ticonderoga, and Langely), and 38.4 (Enterprise and San Jacinto), amounting to over 350 aircraft.
I want to fight by your side!
    Where is everyone!?
I'm begging you, don't leave me behind!
December 15th, 1955 (Showa 30) The Kiso is finally refloated. On January 30th of the next year, she is towed to northern Manila Harbour to be scrapped.
    Shock
Your Kai Ni's been done for a while now.
    Huh...? Oh.
Everyone from back then managed to get their Kai Ni.
Ah, Kiso-san, seems like this is your new weapon.
Sources are conflicted about Akebono being in Manila or in nearby Cavite. American records seem to show Akebono at Cavite.
What is it? Is it needed in fleet battle?
    Yeah... I suppose.
    Unravel
    Unravel
    No, this is fine.
With this, next time I'll even be able to
Ushio undergoes emergency repairs and retreats to Lingga.
Whaat? In this shallow water, we don't have to worry about sinking at all
However, after removing the equipment and dismantling the bulkheads, they abandoned the Kiso
    And fought on foot.
    Uooooooo
    ooooooaaaaa!
    Okinami
    Okinami is sunk.
