    Because we both started translating within the same minute, and neither of us refreshed the screen until we were done and updated the "translation_request" tag to "translated". Thus, we only became aware of the conflicting translations after we were both finished. Since each of us will naturally be biased to his own translation, we defer to any reasonably knowledgeable third party to arbitrate which notes to keep/ditch.

    this is what we call "translation war", unique to the danbooru kingdom.
    it usually happen when a popular piece like this one get posted, and translator from both parties took notice at a close time interval.
    with their sense of duty at hand, both of them started waging war at each other. at most of the time, unknowingly.
    currently, what you see is the remains of the said war. Rare even to some danboorian.
    the remains usually don't last very long, like rainbow in the sky.

    Not a problem. If my explanation sounded snippy at all, it wasn't my intent, and I apologize in turn.

    It was actually an interesting bit of perspective. On one hand, I know these conflicts don't occur that frequently in the grand scheme of Danbooru translations, but on the other, because I've unwittingly participated in a number of them, they feel more common to me, and I take the knowledge of their existence for granted. It's actually a little heartening to know that they occur infrequently enough that people such as yourself are still new to them, despite coming here for at least 2-3 years.
